Romans 8:38, 39  “For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.”
God’s love is right there beside us.  Always,  everywhere and available.  You cannot go beyond God’s reach!  No wall is too thick for God to break through.  Nothing in your past can disqualify you from God’s love.  No one can disqualify you from God’s love or judge you unworthy.  The primacy and availability of God’s love is another spiritual law that works often unnoticed in our world.  Some may condemn and judge yet John 3:16 is quite clear; “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”

We have two laws working side by side – the proximity of evil twisting our thoughts and intentions and the primacy of God’s love – in our lives.  It has been this way since the dawn of time.  God told  Cain, who was  jealous of his brother Abel that;  “Why are you angry, and why has your face fallen? If you do well, will you not be accepted? And if you do not do well, sin is crouching at the door. Its desire is for you, but you must rule over it.”  (Genesis 6:6,7)  Sin does crouch at our doors and we must get control over it.

Adam and Eve’s disobedience opened their eyes to the knowledge of good and evil. And as their eyes opened to this knowledge so did their capacity for good and evil develop.   Since the fall,  the story of mankind’s appetite for evil over good is told by history as it unfolded. And so for each one of us, sin crouches at our door. How can we master it?

How? By choosing! By exercising our free will to do good when we would rather not!  God laid down this choice to Cain, and later on to the people of Israel;  “I call heaven and earth to record this day against you that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing. Therefore choose life, that both thou and thy seed may live, that thou mayest love the LORD thy God, and that thou mayest obey His voice, and that thou mayest cleave unto Him; for He is thy life and the length of thy days, that thou mayest dwell in the land which the LORD swore unto thy fathers, to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, to give them.”  (Deut 30:19,20)

One of Satan’s big lies to us today is that there is no choice, but there is always a choice.  There is always a way out.  Scripture tells us plainly that when we are tempted, we will always have a way out; “There hath no temptation taken you but such as man can bear: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation make also the way of escape, that ye may be able to endure it. ” (1 Cor 10:13)

Our hearts may be desperately wicked (Jer 17:9,10) but God gave us free will to choose Him over evil and He rewards our choice;  “The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked; who can know it? I, the LORD, search the heart; I try the reins, even to give every man according to his ways, and according to the fruit of his doings.”

Even in our darkest time, in our time of greatest weakness and temptation, He is right beside us with love and grace available.  Even though we are inclined to the worst we are FREE to choose LIFE.
